Aloha Lesli - (I still feel like I'm in Hawaii - I catch myself from time to time still wanting to say "Mahalo" instead of "thank you".)

BJ and I want to thank you SO MUCH for everything and allowing us to stay in your 'slice of heaven'.  I don't think we can really explain or express how special and incredible our holiday was.  It was like a dream.  Your cozy, beautiful and self-sufficient condo was absolutely the perfect place.  BJ and I are sure we could see Paradise from there (we have a saying that "if Hawaii isn't Paradise you can sure see it from there").  The view is amazing by the way!

There's so much to say - Thank you for all you and your hubby's hard work in creating such a beautiful little sanctuary (for us!).  I love home-decorating and LOVED your idea with the mirror and draping sheers in the livingroom - not to mention your comfortable King-sized poster bed!  Your condo is equipped so well.  Thank you for all the towels and beach towels, pillows and blankets.  Thank you for the toilet paper, soap, lotions, blow dryer, the cooler and beach stuff, and the list goes on.  The beach chairs and matts and 'stuff' were so nice to have available to us.  We made a lot of use out of them.  Thank you for the beautiful orchid!  Thank you for such comfortable patio furniture and even having patio furniture (some places don't have it at all).  BJ and I (especially BJ) looked forward to sitting on the lanai every morning after his run, with his Starbucks latte, having breakfast, reading and taking in the incredible view.  BJ sure likes his Starbucks coffee but as he sat out on the lanai every morning he said "it's never tasted so good anywhere else".

Thank you so much for leaving the Visitor Guides - they were a wealth of information to us.  I think we used the maps every day, 10x a day!  The last two days before we left we ventured out for the first time UpCountry - you had written about a few of the towns in your Guest Book so we decided to go through a few of them.  So we went to Paia, Haiku, Makawao, through Kula, and made it all the way to the Ulupakua ranch and winery for a tour, a tea, and a homemade cookie.  I live in the "city" now (I have for the past 20 years or so), but grew up and was raised on a farm and will always love the countryside.  When we drove up to and passed Kula a bit the night before we caught the sun setting.  "WOW" what a sight - it took my breath away.  I think the calm and quietness of the night, and the freshly-fallen rain making the earth smell SO fresh made that night absolutely perfect.  That will be something I'll remember for a very long time.  I think that place should be one of the world's most romantic spots (after all we did feel like newlyweds again since we visited Maui for the first time almost 13 years ago on our honeymoon).  It was like our honeymoon but even BETTER.

We had the real pleasure of meeting your Auntie from Haiku.  She came to clean as we were just leaving.  She's a very sweet lady - we would have loved to be able to visit with her more 'over tea' in Haiku.  We tried our best to put everything back to how we found it - sparkling!  I hope she didn't have too much cleaning to do.

Although I'm not a craftsperson (and probably for this very reason) I really admire all your beautiful quiltwork.  (I think I've got you picked out from among your hula sisters! - brown hair in center with a bellie-ring?)  I think you've made the condo extra homey, cozy and even more personal and inviting by incorporating a little of you and your family into it.  Thanks for the beautiful picture of your family and "Welcome" in your Guest Book and for sharing a part of who you are with us.  I feel like I know you at least little now.  (By the way, after seeing the Hula dancing at that great luau you recommended and also seeing it in a great church we stopped in, if I lived in Hawaii I'd be in hula-lessons in an instant!  I love the graceful and flowing moves - and how-on-earth do they move their hips like that?  Wow!)

We'd be more than happy to leave a comment in the online guestbook, but wonder if you might prefer to take bits and pieces from my email instead (since I've written SO much - oops)?  If not, please let me know and I'd love to do it.

Thanks again, Lesli (Mahalo nui loa)

Kim

P.S.  All the best in finding another "107" - hopefully you won't be looking too long before you find it!  (We're also looking for some properties back in Canada - unfortunately, not in Hawaii ... yet!).
